Hello list,
I agree that the SX-101 is better if it is for ham use (I have an
SX-101A and Mk3) along with an SX-100 but for general coverage the 100
is a nice radio and does fine for ham use. In fact my first novice
contact in '75 was made using a Johnson Valiant and an SX-62 so the 100
would have been a big step up. As it was, a local ham took pity on me
and loaned me an SX-101A the second week of my novice career-what a
difference stability and an extra 7 or 8 inches of bandspread make! I
went from working W5's and 4's to working VQ9 and other European and
African stations with the 101A, probably the most fun I ever had with
ham radio.

Hello All,
The SX-101 is a better receiver then the SX-96, or SX-100. The
SX-101 sold new for over $100.00 more than the SX-100. The final
model, the SX-101A has a product detector, and selectable sideband.
