[Hallicrafters] Highly Modified HA-5 VFO

I got a HA-5 VFO at a good price and I think I discovered why.  It's got
more mods then a Heathkit Lunchbox.  Looks like the circuitry for the HF
bands has been removed.  Two of the adjustable coils on top are gone,
another large one has been added to the middle of the chassis, the crystals
are missing, and the RCA socket for HF has been replaced with a trimmer
adjustment.  It's an ugly baby!  What to do?  Suggestions?
