Thanks to the suggestions to the group, but beware and don't do what I just
did. I seem to have found a sure fire method for removing all the cross
hatching off of this panel and leave the printing intact. I used "Tuff
Stuff" auto and upholstery cleaner. This has been a faithful cleaner I have
used in the past with no ill effects encountered. And I might say also it's
been recommended by others on the list as a safe cleaner. My problem with
it, I guess, is leaving it on too long. I sprayed it on and let it set for
about 30 minutes. When I came back to inspect it, to my horror, part of the
cross hatching had dissolved. I ran water over the panel and wiped that off
and the majority of the rest of the cross hatching came off. The strange
part is that all of the cross hatching behind the large knobs was not
affected by the cleaner. This panel only had one small quarter inch long
scratch on it prior to my attempt at destroying it. So beware of leaving
any cleaner on too long as I did! Live and learn someone once said. Now
for the hard part. Finding another panel for this rig. So if by chance
anyone has one lying around they would part with, please let me know.
Thanks.............................Bob Raley kg5r
