Pat,
   Sounds like you are going thru some extra trouble. What I do is use the 
slotted end of a soldering tool that has a point on the other end. It looks 
similar to an alignment tool. I make a small hook on both ends of the wires I'm 
joining, put them together,   close the hooks up, and then solder it. It's 
quick, simple, and looks good. It makes cap replacement really a breeze and there 
is no danger of messing up terminal strips and tube socket contacts by 
overheating, wiggling, etc. It is also easy to unsolder if later needed. 73 Mike
