[Hallicrafters] Crystal / Tube modification.

I have a 100 KHz crystal that I would like to mount inside of an octal 
base tube so I can just plug in into the calibration socket on my 
SX-111.  I'd like to remove the glass, place the crystal inside, and 
then re-install the glass envelop.  The question:  Does anyone have a 
neat way of removing the glass (without breaking it)?
