I am getting ready to fire up this pristine beauty. However having followed
the discussions about transformer failure with interest, I am wondering
about replacing the 5R4 and 5V4 with a pair of 1N1239 diode assemblies, and
relieve the transmitter of their filament current. Any one done this or know
a good reason why it should not be done?
