The saving grace is that most of this old boatanchor equipment isn't
operated as much as it is looked at and then usually only one piece in a
stack at a time is turned on. Also most of the vintage stuff had so
much room around all the parts that heat really wasn't as big an issue
as some of the modern stuff that generates heat with no way for it to
escape. Icom's 756Pro I have been told has this problem. None of
this equipment is going to get 24/7 treatment.
