Yep, it rhymes with "book".

Actually, the name originated in Switzerland as Zaugg,
then Zaug, then Zug (there is a Canton - Swiss state -
named Zug as is the capital of the state named Zug).
My ancestors came through Germany to Brussels which
was then part of the old Dutch empire. Then finally
to the American Colonies in 1719 and 1721. Thus, we
have been here for a "while".

The name got changed to first Zuck then Zook when my
ancestors came over (all in the same generation!).
The pronunciation of Zaugg and Zug are almost like
Zook. That is why it was changed in spelling by the
English.

Anyway, enough of my geneology! Back to "boat
anchors"!

Thanks to this list, we all now know a Zook too! BTW
Glen, is it pronounced as in "look" or "kook"? :-) My
guess it's a Dutch derivite name.
