Hello all, here's an update:

I have found someone to make the metal inlay for the knob (thank you Heinz
and Chuck for the lead). I currently have interest expressed for 16 knobs in
reply to my request for feedback. I have kept all your names and contact
information in case I get this little project accomplished. If there are any
more of you out there, let me hear from you. The more of these I have made,
the cheaper they will be.

My next step is to send a good original knob so a mold can be made and a
prototype manufactured. The prototype will be sent back to me to determine
if it is of acceptable color, quality and functions as intended. Same
process with the metal inlay.

I have 2 original knobs, one in good condition, the other busted. After
looking at them closely I noticed they are slightly different. My good one
has a sharp edge around the outside and looks like it would be more prone to
chipping/breaking. The busted one has a flat edge around the outside and
looks more sturdy (even though it's busted and the other one isn't). I think
the flat edged one would make a better knob but I need a good one to make
the mold. Is there anyone out there that would be willing to trade a
flat-edged knob (in good condition) for my sharp-edged one for the molding
process? If this deal doesn't go through, I'll trade you back if necessary.
You can use my knob for collateral! Even if it does go through I can trade
you back because the knob won't be damaged according to my plastics guy. In
lieu of knob trading, I would be willing to put up a reasonable cash deposit
to guarantee return of the knob in good condition.

Let me know if there is anyone out there willing to help.

Thanks to all & 73,

Mike Langston KL7CD
