Not sure about the SX-15 but I don't think the 16 and 17 are that rare-I
have one each of the SX-16 and 17 I picked up at hamfests in the last 2
years. I have seen 2 more 17's since I got mine. Both the 16 and 17
are nice receivers with the "german silver" main dial and spiral
bandspread dial. My SX-17 had one of the cuter boatanchor bugs I have
come across, one of the output tubes had a very low frequency
oscillation (about 2 cycles per second). I could see, not hear it. The
tube in question had the little blue glow on the sides some beam tubes
have and this winked on and off at about 2 cps. The tube doesn't do
this in other receivers but does it consistently in this one. I
couldn't find anything wrong with wiring layout or components in this
stage. Other replacement tubes I have tried in the receiver don't do
this blinking routine(checked with a scope) so I must have the Very Rare
and Scarce (note the ebay ad copy) SX-17B with blinking output tube :)
