Mine looks the same way.

Another thing to compare is that the escutheon has a hood on it which covers 
the top 1/3rd of the eye.  The tube itself protrudes through the front panel 
with the hood offering some protection. I have an SX-11 with the OEM eye. That 
tube is mounted behind the panel and the escutheon is simply a round assembly 
that surrounds the hole.  The SX-12 has a similar setup. 

I will be interested to hear what you find when you get your set.
