My references show a 1N1230 to be a 200 volt, 1.6 amp rectifier. No-where
near a 5R4.
A 1N2389 is a 1600 volt, 0.6 amp rectifier. Yes, it would probably work as
the low voltage rectifier in the HT37 since there's only about 280 volts AC
there.
Where'd you find the 'cross references'? Don't know if I would trust it.
Am I reading your question correctly that there are two devices in each
octal base or did you say that you had two bases with a single diode in
each? If there's only one in each octal base, forget them. You need two
for full-wave rectification.
