I think I need to replace the original speaker on my S-38 and was wondering
where the best place would be to order from.

Try Fry Electronics. I found a 5" round that fit my Echophone EC-1 there.
It's a 4 ohm, 6 watt speaker that works great. (Output transformer in
Echophone had been replaced years ago, so I'm not sure what the original output Z was.)

Been reading about your hum issue, also... I've been working on my Echophone
with the chassis out of the cabinet, and noticed that I had hum until I
shorted the outside metal cover of the volume control to the chassis.

Well, the pot had a couple bad spots that DeOxit would fix, so I replaced the
control. Presto...no more hum with the volume control cover floating above
chassis ground. Don't ask me why.

Caution when working on these AC/DC units.

Good luck,
Joe
