Hi Peter -

Went through the same issue with one of my SR-150's, which I think is 
pretty similar in the RIT circuit to the SR-500.  A VFO alignment should 
take care of it.  My first attempt was a bit too crude - still had some 
misalignment of the RIT afterwards.  I spent too much time trying to 
convince myself that a variable or fixed resistor had changed values (yeah, 
I know - now).  Couldn't convince myself, so I went back and did a careful 
VFO alignment, which brought everything into line.
