If it is a little bit brighter it sure doesn't bother me or any one
that I have restored a radio for. I have yet to find two
Hallicrafters radio that were painted with the same shape of paint
anyways so anything that makes the radio look new that is close to the
same color will sure not devalue a radio in my mind. Now I have seen
chromed lids that looked totally wrong and I would say did devalue the
radio. Getting the right shade of paint is not easy for most people
so if something off the shelf is very close it sure make sense to use
it. No pinks/ yellow oranges please. I bought an SX-101 at a swapmet
for $40 only because it looked ratty. A couple cans of off the shelf
paint and a little work and I do mean very little it turned into a lot
more valuable radio.

Can any of the gentlemen on this list recommend a source of silver

    paint for

      the cabinet of an SX-115?

NC Electonics has the tel# disconnected and doesn't answer any

    emails.

      Tnx, Al
