[Hallicrafters] Hallicrafters FPM-300 restoration

I’m working on a nice FPM-300. I’m puzzled by something, so I am asking
the experts.

I got it receiving well, but noticed the VFO and dial calibration was a
bit off. So I followed the alignment instructions and set the VFO
calibration and dial registration on 80 meter per manual. After some
effort, it was within specs. Then I flipped to 40 and 20 meters and
found the VFO was off by about 10 or 15 khz. Book says 3 khz is normal.
Why am I seeing this big shift in the VFO when I go above 80 meters?
