Thanks to all for the replies,
As suggested I switched the xtals, it put the USB to the proper switch
position, with very reduced audio. LSB was lost completely. Returned xtals
back to abnormal.
It looks like it needs the alignment. The 1700kc xtal is towards the rear,
as in the manual. All I need now is to muster up the courage to get
started. The last rx I aligned could have gone better. Since then I picked
up a Heath IG-102 generator that works good for what it is. Just have to
remember to switch on the rx before I start this time.
As an aside; Is there a trick to pulling the chassis from the case without
marring the bottom lip of the case?
