The reason I mentioned TV Tuner cleaner is because that is what we all
used back in the days when I did TV and test equipment repair.
The lube is to prevent the contacts from galling (which is the scraping
off of the silver plating).
A TV tuner without contact lube would not last a month, then would require
a new tuner installed. The one thing I would never use is a cleaner with a
water base. Tuner cleaner has a solvent base that evaporates quickly,
leaving only the lube in a thin film. We had some 50KV and 100KV supplies
that I serviced monthly and on these I would spray the cleaner on a strip
of bond paper and pull this through the contacts so it did not get on the
stellite and cause problems.
The reason I asked this question was to see if there was something new on
the market better than tuner cleaner.
