Has anyone noticed an extra wire attached to pin 6 of the 12K8 that is not 
connected at its other end?  I noticed this when refurbishing mine several 
months ago, and thought it was a test point, or someone wanted to simply by-pass 
the band switch at one time.

I just ran across another person who has notice the same wire in his radio.

I do remember reading about short-wave radios that were modified during WW2 
to silence the short-wave frequencies, and soldering across the bandswitch to 
allow for broadcast band only reception seems likely.

Any comments from the well informed?  I've searched the WEB and can no longer 
find that article on the WW2 radio mods.
