The only thing that should be on the lower right side of the grill is a
small Hallicrafters logo.  Are you sure you have the R-48a?

I just purchased a R48A speaker in very nice condition.  It has one
peculiar 
thing on it and that is a silver button on the right side of the grill. 
Upon 
examining the rear grill it looks as though it was factory installed.  I
am 
not sure what it's function is.  Any ideas?  If needed I can send a
photo.
