Hi all.
Beware scam artists replying to ads on the HCI web site.
One recent scam artist has been replying to For Sale/Swap ads with unpunctuated English, sounding like a bad translation from a
foreign language, or like someone cutting and pasting from various English texts. For example:
"well my shipper will take care of the shipping i have cntactedthis client of mine whomis owning me so he has promise to send you a
cashier cheque of $3500 and from this you deduct your own selling price of $250 and send the balance of $3250 to my shipper via
western union transfer who is using this funds you are to send to him for the pick up arrangement like the custom charges, the
insurancecost, and the tarriff to be charge on the Swap: Hallicrafters SX-115.so that my client can issue out payment to you next
week. if you get this rigth Gets back to me today. "
Here's another:
"will buy your rig for $ 352.67
I will send you a cashier's cheque for 23,546.48 and you can deduct the cost of the rig not to forget the shipping and oh yes the
handling and deduct the insurance and then you can send me back the balance
This is going to Japan so there is a tariff of 23,456 yen to be deducted after my friend collects the commision off the top and then
the export/import fees not withstanding
The lawyers to collect their reading fees
Hope there is some money left for disposition fees
If it arrives DOA there will be a fee set out out in subarticle 546789.34 subsection 3456.67 and line 346 (F)
Are you following this so far???"
This is just a warning to all to recognize such nonsensical gibberish for what it is--a scam.
Thanks for the bandwidth.
