Dan,

Check to make certain that the second conversion oscillator is in fact running. It is possible that your signal generator is providing the injection signal to convert from the high IF to the low IF, and the conversion oscillator is not running, or is way off frequency [I don't recall if it is crystal controlled in the HQ-160]. It is also possible that the first IF transformers are aligned way off frequency, and the second conversion oscillator frequency is NOT the difference betwixt the two IFs. Good luck; 73.

I have a strange one for you guys. I don't think this is just Hamarlund
related so I will ask here. I have a HQ-160 that was totally deaf on the
doulbe converstion bands, I hooked up a generator and found one of the
second IF's was way off. So did a complete alienment and put it all back
together hooked everything up and it was dead again! So I hooked up the gen
again (high output) and it come back to life again! took off the gen and I
switch to the low bands and went back to the high band and it was dead
again? It looks like the gen jump starts the second if and when I change
bands it goes dead again? Any ideas? Dan
