I have an SX-101A and within it's limitations, it's fine on SSB.  The
selectivity isn't that great.  It drifts a little. It's heavy.  It does
have a product detector. 

I also have an SX-100, a II,  It does not have a product detector but it
sounds a lot like the SX-101A.
