Please join us on Sunday August 15th for the Hallicrafters Collectors
International 20 meter Net. We need some Canadian provinces verified by QSL to
complete our HCI Net QSL Gallery. I am asking each of you in Canada to try to
check in on Sunday, especially if you are in the provinces shown below. All
Canadian stations are always welcome all of the time, naturally.

If you have a Ham friend in Canada in one of the provinces needed verified,
please contact them and encourage them to check in. We need 'YOUR' help guys!

The pre-Net will commence at 12:45 PM EDT, (1645 UTC). Nothing fancy tomorrow,
just Frogzilla croaking the chorus to his latest song soon to be heard live on
Animal Planetoid, entitled 'That Ain't Swamp Gas, It's My Breath!' With any luck
the Sun will burp some solar gas about that time and there will be peace in the
infamous HCI swamp while the large amphibian tries to hack up the wireless mike
he swallowed because the solar flare caused the AAA battery to explode startling
the greener than a ripe pea amphibian just as he took a really deep breath to
croak out a really high note.

The Net proper will start at 1:15 PM EDT, (1715 UTC). I will be listening
exclusively for Canadian check ins from 1:00-1:10 PM EDT, (1700-1710 UTC) with
the Mosley TA-33 pointed north toward Alaska. I would point the vertical that
way, but with Frogzilla out that direction trying to expel that wireless mike
from the depths of his cavernous gut, I would hate to get caught in the back
draft if his tail pipe misfires, if ya know what I mean! I would appreciate all
stations on frequency at this time to point their antennas to cover from the
northwest to northeast parts of Canada. Please relay in any stations that you
hear. I will take Canadian check ins at any time during the Net, but this
particular time I will devote to them only. So Canadians, be there and be
counted!

The frequency will be 14.293 MHZ usb +/- for key clicks, mike splatter and the
sound of the Arabic children next-door screaming in glee as they rush toward the
HCI pond with harpoons fashioned from their father's golf clubs ground down on
the electrical grinder in their garage he uses for body work on cars, with a
hungry gleam in their eyes that says "It's going to be a frog leg and French
fries night!" If the sight of these youngsters sprinting toward him does not get
Frogzilla into high speed hop mode, he will be spending tomorrow evening in a
deep fryer! Not to worry Frogzilla fans, if these kids hurl harpoons like they
pitch horse shoes, he has nothing to fear, but everybody in the neighborhood
better duck!

I want to thank everyone who helped us to get all fifty of the United States
confirmed. Especially my friend in Utah who insisted he mailed back his card
after receiving mine in the SASE provided, only to discover tonight it was
actually hidden under the stack of credit card receipts for the parts he ordered
from Mouser and AES that he was hiding from his XYL! A special thanks to Guido
in Puerto Rico for the card and also to the guys vacationing in the Virgin
Islands who sent us a card.

So please everyone, help us get as many of the Canadian provinces as possible.
Some I know we will not get tomorrow, but let's try for them every Sunday until
we do. Some of them like the Northwest Territory and the Yukon may take a while.
Here is the list.

VE1 VA1 Nova Scotia
VE5 VA5 Saskatchewan
VE6 VA6 Alberta
VE7 VA7 British Columbia
VE8 Northwest Territories
VE9 New Brunswick
VY2 Prince Edward Island

I hope that we are graced with some decent propagation tomorrow, just for the
sake of variety. QSB gets boring after a while! I need a relay station in FL,
maybe KG4KZG, if Dale has his antennas back up and operational. If not, maybe
somebody else down that direction can help? Also Jerry, K0EJF, in CO, if he is
at the QTH and not off bargain hunting at a Ham feast. Any Midwest volunteers?
All volunteers for relay work will be appreciated tomorrow and every Sunday, so
don't be shy, step up and help me out.

I hope to hear many of you tomorrow, especially our Canadian friends. So come on
down and join us neighbors. We will be listening.

Incidentally, do any of you know who actually wrote the column for Popular
Electronics called "Key Clicks And Mike Splatter"?

If anyone can find a Popular Electronics with my WPE8CXO call sign in the Hank
Bennet column from 1961-1963, there is a special gift for you! Provided you make
me a copy of that column, of course!
