[Hallicrafters] S-120 filter cap common

Good afternoon all,

I just picked up a dead S-120. I removed the oozing filter cap and find 
that the common lead is connected directly to the ac at the switch, in the 
on position. Is this normal?
The rectifier is some odd looking top hat. Is the proper replacement available?
