[Hallicrafters] SX-100 Question

I dragged out five SX-100 radios. Never paid close attention before.

On a Mark II with the tapered black knobs with shiny chrome inserts (as
opposed to the aluminum inserts on the cylindrical knobs) there is a strange
trimmer knob. It is identical to the calibrator knob on the other side
except it has a shiny gold colored metallic insert instead of the silver or
chrome one. The two very small knobs on the others, all notch knobs and the
calibrator knob on this one have the aluminum inserts.

I noticed that a Mark I parts radio has the same gold however it is the only
knob left.

Is this gold or brass insert something someone did to it or what?

Gerry
