All stations who check into the Sunday HCI 20 meter Net tomorrow, or one of the
next two Sundays, will have their call signs placed in my certified official
Magician's top hat for a drawing to be held on Sunday April 25th. The winner to
receive a piece of vintage gear that is cosmetically very nice and fully
operational. Said winner to pay packing and shipping. Each Net announcement
will contain a clue as to the items identity.
Please join us tomorrow April 4th for the Sunday HCI 20 meter Net. The pre-Net
will commence at 12:45 PM EDT, (1645 UTC) and the Net proper to begin at 1:15 PM
EDT, (1715 UTC).
Please note: although the clock time is set ahead by one hour at 2:00 AM Sunday
morning, the Net will 'NOT' begin one hour later!
The frequency will be 14.293 MHz usb +/- for key clicks, mike splatter and
hopefully just the usual 'loud and wide crowd' over powered and excessively
modulated rumblings from our neighbors on .295 who believe the minimul power
needed to conduct a QSO is the legal limit! This is preferable to another
weekend of people screaming "CQ Contest" about every 3 Hz across the radio
spectrum. Even worse are those really thin vocal spectrum sounding digital
recorders with that prerecorded message so the contestor can save his voice for
the call sign said so fast that a cryptographer is needed to decipher it and the
5/9 signal report. How come everybody gets the same "5/9"? Maybe because it
saves having to write down the real reading? Hopefully we can hear each other
tomorrow without another contest going on.
We had one start up today right in the middle of the Saturday Net out of MO for
a QSO party. Don't these people have receivers that work? I finally managed to
break in and informed them that the frequency had been in use for ninety minutes
and we would appreciate it if they would be kind enough to move their QSO party
to a different frequency." Then the station asked me "where I wanted him to go
to?" He almost found out! But I managed to restrain myself and suggested that he
simply pick his own frequency that was not occupied. Which he did.
I hope to hear many of you tomorrow. I will be on the air giving the gerbils
their exercise running on the little treadmill that runs the gearbox that turns
the generator that powers my Ham station at 12:20 PM EDT, (1620 UTC) if you are
in the area. Drop in and help me kick a few electrons loose.

fuse will blow.
