Glen,
Perhaps you could enlighten some who are not familiar with the different types
of tube testers the advantages and disadvantages of an emission tester Vs a
mutual conductance tester.
Tnx Glen for your pearls of wisdom. or should it be drops of solder? Hmmm.

There are some tubes that have a deliberate cathode to
heater connection within the envelope. However, they
certainly are in the minority. It is pretty unlikely
that all of the tubes have such a short unless all are
of the type that were manufactured as such.
