In looking at the capacitors in the sx42 I'm restoring, none are actual
"paper". They are mostly black (plastic?) with yellow or orange
markings including a band around them and "G.E." on them along with
their specs, a couple are "Cornell". I heard reference to "black
beauties" and wonder if these are them (any issues with them?)
-I suspect these are all replacements but looking for confirmation.
-In addition, many have been installed with leads longer than I would
have expected for originals What are the thoughts on whether these
longer leads will cause me future problems (alignment, noise, .)
-The micas all look somewhat older with shorter leads and in tighter
spots so I suspect originals but not sure how to tell for sure.
Many of the resistors also look newer and again some with longish leads,
any issues there.
Also, I'm looking for a replacement for the Xtal Phasing capacitor (the
shaft is bent) that comes through the font panel. It's marked a C57
(although C105 is the same) on my schematic. Anyone got one that they
can part with.
Thanks all
