[Hallicrafters] SX-111 Questions

Hi SX-111 owners,
     I recently got a SX-111 (s/n 1110-12 204020) which came with a
manual (not original). I have a couple of questions directed to you
who might have a SX-111.
1) The manual shows C-69A,B,C on top of the chassis centered near the
back - my 111 has a tube there (6BY6). The C-69 on mine (an
electroytic) is mounted under the chassis near the power transformer.
The manual has 14 tubes - mine has 15 tubes.
2) The tube in question seems to be very microphonic - tapping the
receiver anywhere and it rings but the 6BY6 seems to be the most
microphonic.
3) The procedure for checking and adjusting the Notch Filter is not
very explicit in the manual I have.
4) The crystal calibrator seems to stay on at times although I turn it
off but this I need to check further before being certain.
Otherwise, when it's working properly, the receiver is very sensitivity
and selective. If any SX-111 owners have some thoughts on the above
please share them.
I am finding the path to CW operation is not a direct one - my code
is almost there (well 90% at 5 wpm) and my General test samples close
to averaging 90% so I guess I'm slowly getting there.
Any finally, is the consensus to replace all black beauty caps
regardless of how the set operates?
Thanks.
