[Hallicrafters] fixing small scratches

For about a year I have been using a product called "Aluminum Black - Metal Touchup". This is generally sold in gun shops and used by gunsmiths to hide scratches on metal, and other tasks. I've also seen it sold at Walmart (sporting dept).

With some scratches on my hallicrafter radios (especially the ones that go to bare metal), it often totally hides the scratches, or certainly minimizes the scratch. I apply with a Q tip and reapply several times over a couple of minutes. Then use a soft rag to clean it off. It nearly always turns those bright scratches, on the darker radio cases (S-40, etc). To a dark color. I've later used car wax to polish over the scratches and the repair appears permanent. Folks, I realze that most of the Hallicrafters cases are not aluminum...but this works anyway. I'll probably be embarrased to learn that this "fix" has been on the Hallicrafters list for ages...but wanted to share my discovery.
