[Hallicrafters] chassis cleaning

I seem to recall some threads on the list on cleaning up chassis (both
top and underside) using a hose or power washer then drying in the sun.
I've looked but haven't located them, can anyone point me to these of
offer other suggestions for getting them clean including that grimy
"coating" that that seems to form on the chassis.
