I have always reacted the same way I do when I'm planning to drive 
somewhere and discover there is some big traffic jam causing event going 
on there - I reschedule for a better time.  When I switch on and realize 
there is a contest in progress I devote the weekend to other stuff. 
There is never any trouble finding other stuff to do, and contests 
actually provide a great opportunity for antenna testing.  That is 
unless you are close enough to some QRO+ contest demon that he shows up 
in your reflected power reading.
