[Hallicrafters] Advice sought on antenna cable type

RG8/X or Radio Shack RG8/M will work fine and can take
a lot more power at 7 MHz than RG58/U.

As for Radio Shack coax, about the only thing that I
will use sold by them is their RG8/X equivalent. What
I have gotten from Radio Shack in this type of coax is
pretty decent (has a good braid on it). However,
anything else, including their RG8/U stuff is pretty
much junk!

Now, I used to use all sorts of their RG58/U coax for
"leaky line" systems instead of purchasing Andrew
"Radiax" (which is "normal" Heliax with slots cut into
the shield). This type of system actually relies on
radiation from the feedline as the antenna. It is
used in tunnels, buildings, etc., to get r.f. into
areas that cannot be covered by a normal antenna.
Radio Shack RG58/U was MUCH cheaper than Radiax and
actually does a better job! But, for antennas, patch
cables, etc., it really stinks!

RG-8x has been suggested and Radio Shack has RG-8m.
