The "C" indicates a Canadian model. Hallicrafters produced several radios
in Canada - I have a "SC38C", and have owned SC77s in the past, as well as a
TW2000. I also have a plastic ACDC set all made in Canada. Living in Canada,
near Toronto - they show up regularly. Not all had the "C" - never found a
high end one though. Look at the tube layout for the information. Not much
mention, if any, of this bit of Hallicrafter history in "Dachis" book. If
you own a Canadian set, you certainly have a much rarer version of the
radio.
