I recently decided to perform some work on my very pristine SX-17
receiver.

This radio works wonderfully, clean with no dents or dings whatsoever.
Everything
Is original or so I thought. I never recapped the unit, I never opened
or removed
The bottom chassis plate.

Anyway, I decided to replace the rubber feet because after 60+ years,
the feet were
Basically crushed and the bottom plate bolt heads were scraping the
desk. So, turning
The receiver on it's side, I removed the 4 bolts holding the "Caution
do not Remove"
Sign saying the warranty would be void. I debated that for a while and
figured the
Warrantee must have expired by now.

After removing all the bolts holding the plate, I found something in the
chassis that
No one ever mentioned I would find in there. Neither this reflector or
the manual.

I found (2) ACORNS! 2 ACORNS. I removed the acorns, and the rig seems
to work much
Better.

P.S. This is no joke. I really did find these very old acorns in
there.
