Hello Peter:

Let me be one of the first to welcome you to the list!  There is a lot of
experience and expertise available here,  I sure have learned a lot in the
past year or so.
I hope you enjoy the Sr500,  I've heard a couple on the bands and they sound
great.  I have its little brother, the SR160, basically the same rig without
the high powered finals.  They are pretty neat older rigs and don't give a
lot of trouble.  One warning, be careful with tuning up.  If yours has the
original type finals (8236) they are pretty scarce and as a result, pretty
expensive.  I know of one that has been converted to 12DQ6B like the 160 due
to unavailability of the originals.
Be sure to drop by the Hallicrafters Net on 14292khz on Sunday afternoons at
12:15 Central.
