I have a S-77a and the schematic I got for it says 'run #3'. The components do
not match the set in some places. There isnothing on the chassis to indicate
what production run it is. How do I know? Where can I get a corrrect schematic
for it with matching components?
Duane, Felix & List -
On some Hallicrafters models I have heard that the production run number is rubber-stamped somewhere on the bottom side of the chassis. I don't know if this is universal. My SX-42 has a number 10 circled, about 1/2 inch in diameter stamped on the underside of the chassis, near rear center (near the BFO coil). I haven't established if this is a run number or just a quality control marking.
My best approach is to find as many schematics as I can and see which one comes closest to my radio. Sources include BAMA http://bama.sbc.edu/hallicra.htm and Sam's and Ryders manuals which fortunately are available at my local public library, as well as the many helpful generous people who read this list.
