[Hallicrafters] SX-42 (THANKS)

I want to thank all that responded with helpful suggestions. I do have one 
additional question. The fella I purchased the radio from mentioned that some 
folks have made a modification by adding a fuse to the S-meter circuit to 
protect the meter. Is this pretty standard with many of you SX-42 owners?
