[Hallicrafters] coupling shaft question

Just remember that Teflon, although a good insulator makes a very poor
mechanical device. It "cold flows", is relatively soft, (Tighten a set
screw on it and it'll be loose in just a few hours) It also makes very poor
base insulators for antennas unless physical strain is removed from the
insulator...and it's as expensive as all getout.

I once used it for a base insulator for my Hustler HF mobile antenna. We
left on a trip and didn't make 30 miles before I had to stop and guy the
antenn to keep it from swinging. I used some 30# monofilament fishing line
from the loading coil through the back windows. It worked fine after that.

supply 1/4 inch rod stock in phenolic, ABS, polycarbonate, nylon,
teflon....also couplings, unversal joints, clamps, etc.
