[Hallicrafters] SR-2000 revival

Hi all you hallicrafters friends!
I got hold of a nice SR-2000/P-2000 five weeks ago. It was cheap (250.-)
as the
TX was not operative. “Not even idle plate current is flowing!” said my
pre-owner.

On the workbench it turned out, that current was flowing, but the panel
meter was “cooked”! In a first step I exchanged the current meter
against the
voltage meter. They are of the same type. By exchanging the dial, I
arrived
at a working plate current meter.
It took a complete afternoon and a home-brewed micro-soldering-iron to
get
the moving coil of the other meter connected to the spiral spring again
and hence to the terminals. It reads now 1500 V instead of 1700 V.
I don´t care. Would you?

But is there anybody, who knows where to get a replacement panel meter?

After that beeing fixed, I found the driver tube 12BY7A having a short
from
cathode to screen grid. The screen grid resistor was burnt out. That was
not a
big problem. But after that my “fault detection” was unsuccessful for 4
long weeks.
When keyed, the TX was in wild oscillation at all ( or nearly all)
stages.
And yesterday I finally found a 1mH RF choke burnt and melted away,
which
let pass the full output power to the TX/RX switch-over control network!
So, this was replaced in no (or nearly no) time, and now came the great
moment:
The SR-2000 was on the air! Modulation reports were great. And I was
happy!
Well, guys. That is the story of me and my wonderful SR-2000.
I wonder whether anybody has got a panel meter or even some useful hints
on
that rig for me.

I am german and my english my sound strange to you. - But what about
your
German?
