I dug my R-46 out of the basement, blew off the dust, and wiped the lint from
the grill cloth covering, then found it worked really well on my Yaesu
FT-901DM. I like the lower tone which seems to match the Yaesu sound
quite well.

But, one of my favorite passtimes is switching between 3 different speakers
on several rigs...typically hi fi bookcase speakers- for the best sound.
Sometimes the bass is boomy, but the better bookcase speakers nicely
enhance strong audio when the QRM and QRN isnt a problem. Especially on 2M
rigs, and for AM listening.

Usually the smaller the speaker the worse the audio. but once you get up
around
9"x14"x6"d the nice fuller sound is apparent. I even have an old
22"x14"x14" speaker that makes a wonderful improvement on an old tube
typeZenith FM receiver. Cheap but effective. I prefer wood cabinets to
plastic...better bass, less boominess.
