I have a Sparton (Sparks - Witherton) Model 610 console receiver that
my grandparents bought new in the 20's. They avoided paying RCA for use
of their patents as much as possible and the result is a pretty bizarre
receiver. ALL the tuned circuits are up front, followed by a string of
4 or 5 type 484/485 amplifier tubes which were also made by Sparton.
You would surely not do this if you had other options!
