Ed, my Scott SLRM's are Gray with a circular dial that looks similar to the
type used on an SX-28. It has a built in speaker on the left side although
I have seen them without the speaker too. It is an AC DC set. 115v AC or
DC. With this radio you wouldn't have needed a vibrator power supply. The
RBO (also by Scott) has a sliderule dial with a semicircular insert at the
top indicating 0 to 100. It is marked 115v 60 cycles AC so it is probably
what you had. The SLRM's have knobs on the front to pull it out of the
cabinet where the RBO has rack handles. It's very interesting hearing
about the great reception up on top of the world. Pretty damn cold
though. My hat is off to all the merchant sailors who made the Murmansk
run. Or any run for that matter. You guys took more casualties than the
navy and never got the recognition or benefits. Is it really true that
when your ship was sunk your pay was stopped until you signed on another
ship?
