PREVIOUS MESSAGE:
I just picked up a S-19R Sky- Buddy that looks like it
was kept in a storage shed for a long time. The inside is
horribly filthy. It's some kind of soot or something similar.
Short of running thru the dishwasher (or car wash) how
do you get that kind of grime cleaned up?
Obviously, I can clean the tubes and cabinet interior,
but what do you do to clean all the components and
wiring on the underside of the chassis?
Hi John,
While cleaning the rig you may find as I did (the hard way) that you
probably should leave the crud on the tubes. The markings come off very
easily! I placed a complete set from a dirty rig, all 17 of them, in a
pan of soapy water. I now have a set of 17 tubes with no markings and a
new set of tubes in the rig. A new set of tubes causes a total
realignment of the radio, but that should probably have been done anyway,
Hi! Hi!.
