My SX-25, band 4 has been hard of hearing since I got it.
The 6K8 has a lot to be desired at that frequency range.
one person suggested to use a 6SA7 in that socket and rewire it, another
said to use the
6SA7 as a mixer and hide a 6C4 oscillator under the chassis.
Both of these seem unacceptible.
I bought this new in 1947 from leo meyerson and don't want to mod it.
Replacing the mixer socket with a low loss one, ceramic or brown
compound may do a lot of good. I did add a front panel ant trimmer
control
and opened up all of the under chassis trimmers, this made a big
difference on all
of the bands the high ends particularly.
any more ideas out there??
