Yesterday I connected a pair of FM wireless speakers to my SX-110. I used the
headphone jack and an adapter to connect to the 1/8 inch mini-plug coming from
the FM transmitter. I placed the two speakers across the room, warmed up the
SX-110 and then tuned the transmitter and speakers for best reception.
Absolute clarity with surprising fidelity. There is a bass boost switch, so I
turned it on. Greatly improved the overall mid range sound quality, not much
bass as the speakers are too small for that. But very nice audio with excellent
voice reproduction.
I paid $89.95 at Radio Shack for them. I also tried them with my DSS Sony A-55
satellite receiver. They sounded great there also.
They claim a range of 150 feet, but past experience has taught me to divide by
two for a more realistic distance without signal fade. They will operate on four
D cell batteries, or a supplied AC wall adapter. I put one speaker at the
opposite end of the house from the FM transmitter and had strong audio. Lit the
stereo light up and kept it lit. Going through several walls did not bother it
at all.
I was pleasantly surprised how good they sounded in conjunction with the SX-110.
If you can borrow a pair from somebody, do so. Give it a try.
