I have just descovered something very interesting buried in the back if an
old box of catalogs I got many years ago. On October 1953, Larry Simon of
the hallicrafters Company, 823 South Tripp Ave received his monthly copy
(Volume 18, Number 10) of "The Capacitor". the magazine put out by the hams
at Cornell-Dubilier. (I know this because his name is on the address label).
These magazines we common in the 50's and 60's at companies with large ham
populations, although I had never seen one from CDE before.
The magazine has an excellent article with photos and plans for a "super
modulated" transmitter using the Taylor design (W6FNX) with a pair of 807's
in the finals. When was the last time you ever saw an article on super
modulation? The magazine also has an interesting Trading Post section.
I am not an AM'er, but assume a few of you read these posts. If you want to
own this interesting item, please send me an e-mail with your offer.
Thanks,
Craig
