Guys...I was at Tom's QTH in San Mateo 2 weeks ago and he showed me a
Viking Valiant
that I hand carried to him from Los Angeles several years ago. Tom
pointed out where he
had used the method described in ER on the Valiant front panel and I
simply could not tell
that it had been spot painted. My face was right up next to it and it
looked undamaged.
Believe it!!

There is an excellent detailed article by Tom Bonomo; K6AD of San Mateo,
CA
in the December 1998 issue of "Electric Radio" magazine about painting
and
touch up techniques for boatanchor paint finishes. He went on to
describe the
use of an air brush for close detail work, how to match colors and the
use of
flattening agents to reduce the gloss to closely replicate the original
semi-gloss appearance.
