Several of the old time books on radio antennas had plans for "An
apartment Antenna" which was more like a loading coil on a PVC pipe. You
ended up with what looked like a rain downspout but was really a radio
antenna. Designed for use in an apartment building where you could not
string a wire antenna to the next building.

The WW II OSS SSTR 5 radio and several other spy radios used a wire
antenna zig zagged across the ceiling which made it invisible to the
outside world. Most of these sets operated from 3 to 12 MHZ.
